Ice forest.

This morning we had another clear,cold,frosty start to the day which is unusual for this neck of the woods. The frost was sufficiently heavy that a layer of ice had formed in the water sitting in an old dinghy near the garage.I was trying to explain how ice is formed to grandson and in doing so we dropped a stone on it to break it. Then when we picked up a piece this is what we saw! I was amazed at the shapes. The ice was thin and melting quickly as we rushed indoors to grab the camera and get this snap.It made my day.
