Heat

After a local fire last night (close to L's horses and only 10 mins from the house) we were all very aware of just how hot and tinder dry everything is here. K and I headed off to the farmers market this morning and sampled some amazing peaches, 'pluots' (cross between plums and apricots) and nectarines, as well as lots of great peppers and tomatoes etc. We bought things to make a buffet for all the family coming over in the afterrnoon....it just kept getting hotter and by the time they all arrived it was apparently 104 degrees! Nearly blipped photos of the many fans around the house !(not that effective in making it feel cooler) but the food was tasty and it was good to see other cousins and their kids and my aunt and uncle. Talked a bit about where we might go for the rest of the holiday...
After they left we decided to go and see the film 'Boyhood' at the movies. Very good-we all enjoyed it-but very long. Not home til after midnight (and it's still pretty hot!)
