Beautiful Symmetry
Today, it the sun was shining and so after doing my work, I set out on foot to the park to take some shots of the river. Ten minutes into my walk the clouds came and everything turned grey :(
So, as a backstop I went into town and visited our main church, otherwise known as The Crooked Spire or Ye Olde Crooked Spire if you fancy giving it an Elizabethan twist.
I am sure this will hit a chord with many of you out there, but if you have something really noteworthy, ancient or architecturally beautiful in your town, you tend to visit it once or twice, usually when you were about 7 years old. You will, of course, plan to visit it many times, but never do because it is on your doorstep. And so it is with the Crooked Spire, or Saint Mary and All Saints to give the church its Sunday name. I have made a real effort to visit it more often and each time I find something new, something beautiful and usually around 700-800 years old.
Today was the first time I only really took notice of a huge (relatively) stained glass window at one end of the church. I will ask for permisson to get closer to it (via a staircase) to photograph it as it depicts a huge battle of good Vs evil. I will most certainly blip it at a later date as it is simply stunning.
I had decided to blip an image of an intricately carved pew end which I had never noticed before, but there was something about the symmetry of the arches that I preferred today. I wish I was there earlier so I could have caught the light better (by about 30cms), but this will have to do. It somehow reminded me of sunnier days spent in Granada at the Alhambra Palace. Well, almost.
Have a great weekend everyone and I look forward to seeing what blips the weekend presents you with.
