Golden Harvest

I don't think I can ever remember the harvest being this early - and it's a bumper crop. Of course the farmers will grumble that the harvest is so good that prices will be low. Will that reduce the price of bread I wonder?

We have got a black & white print dated 1890 showing the harvest being gathered in the field behind our house. We went out this afternoon and identified the exact place where the photo was taken. It doesn't look the same because the trees have grown but the angle of the church in the background makes identification possible.

This evening they started harvesting the field and the dust was amazing. This picture shows the dust cloud backlit by the setting sun. It was magical.

Stop Press!!! Apparently my picture featured on the BBC Midlands Today weather forecast this evening. We were out and didnt see it :-(
