Not the moon
but the sun through the fog at 6 am. Woke up to thick fog around the house and took a quick picture.
This was my husbands choice for the day, this one was mine.
Originally I wanted to show you the abundance of the 6 pounds of chanterelles (bought) and 4 pounds of blackberries (picked). The mushroom man is a friend and he gives me a really good price for his freshly found mushrooms. What was left over after my greedy purchase goes to the local restaurants. Now I have a lot of work, preserving all this abundance. But that is my summer pleasure and I feel deep gratitude that I can do this. I used to pick berries and mushrooms with my mother and I think that in the meager years after the war many a meal came out of what was harvested around our house. Old habits die hard. I know that most people don't like to go through the "pain" of searching and picking, for me it belongs to the most rewarding things I can think of. And when after a day or two of labor in the kitchen I look at a row of gleaming jars full of preserved blackberries and mushrooms, I am simply happy.
I am so grateful for all your comments , stars and 7! hearts for the little hummingbird!!
I will visit you all tonight, although it is already another day then for you. It became a glorious day, warm and sunny, clear blue sky after the fog had disappeared . The sun was strong and just burned it away in 15 minutes. So I just need to be outside for a bit :-)
