St Oswalds

Quite a while since I posted a church. This is St Oswalds in Oswestry. St Oswald met a gruesome end in the Dark Ages and was subsequently canonised.

The town name Oswestry is some kind of corruption of St Oswald.

We had been elsewhere for the weekend when I realised that I have lived 50 years plus without need or occasion to visit Oswestry. So when the opportunity presented itself we felt compelled. And of course I needed a record shot.

A very quiet and peaceful town on a Sunday. I suspect somewhat more bustling on Market Days.
