Death Of An Old Timer

One of the very old maple trees standing guard at the front of the house had to be taken down today, because it was hollow and creaking dangerously. It was sad to see such a venerable thing destroyed. I think it was probably planted not long after our house was built, about 150 years ago. The stump makes me think of an abstract flower.
