Last night six of us went out to get ice creams after dinner as a bit of a treat. Two of us got lost on the way as we passed the harbour pub. It would seem that to some people a pint of ‘Doom Bar’ ale is more inviting than a delicious cone with two different flavor scoops in it (crunchy caramel and black forest gâteaux for me!!). Four of us set off back from the Ice cream parlour towards the pub licking away happily. Not all of us reached our destination with ice crams still in our hands. Seagulls saw us coming and for two of us the ice creams were snatched away in the blink of an eye.
They attack in gangs. One swoops down and knocks the food out of the unwitting hand and the others lie in wait to gobble it up from the ground. We are now down one piece of pizza and two ice creams so far this holiday. So much for ‘Do Not Feed the Seagulls’!!’
Here is a shot of a seagull doing what it’s supposed to do. What it did in the old days before they learned that it was easier to snatch pasties, pizzas and ice creams from unsuspecting holidaymakers. It was soaring over the ocean. Looking for fish I assume.
