Close up of orchid (with Saltire)
I was in the office bright and early this morning, having dropped M off for another long shift feeding the thousands at the Commonwealth Games. A good, productive day with a number meetings and pleasant lunch with a friend and former colleague.
I didn't take any Games photos today, but time is running out for the monthly blip challenge of Macro/close up, so I thought I'd take a photo of these orchids which live in our kitchen windowsill and thrive on neglect. They produce spectacular flowers which last for weeks, then the flowers drop off and we are left with a seemingly dead stick, which miraculously produces another crop of flowers a few months later.
Sticking with the Commonwealth Games theme of the week, I did use a large Saltire flag as a backdrop. The flag will be put to better use tomorrow at Hampden Park, when we go to watch the athletics :)
