Halfway.
I took a one euro eighty cent bus ride (Dublin's minimum fare) up towards the Cuckoos Nest pub today. Resisting temptation, I got off the bus two stops before the pub and went for a stroll in a small park. I was where I'd planned to be, in the high foothills. Below me to my left the whole of Dublin City and suburbs sprawled. I could clearly see the Pigeon House chimneys on one side of Dublin Bay and the Howth Peninsula on the other. Before me and to my right were the Dublin Mountains. About ten miles in total between the Bay and the Mountains on this side and I was bang in the middle.
I had a pleasant hour or two sitting on the grass with the camera on the tripod chewing grass stalks (not smoking grass, Charlie!) and taking loads of shots. This is Mount Kippure which I hiked over many times as a young Scout but which then became home to our National T.V. station's transmitters and was put off limits to walkers, for the greater good they say. Meant to have a link ready for a song, but didn't. I'll go and get it now after I've published.
Ah good, no ones been here yet, this is the song.
