Homebirth

We had an open evening in the outpatients department today to promote homebirth and community birth in our local birthing unit. Here we tried to make a 'sterile' outpatients waiting room into a homebirth area. We had an inflatable birth pool, and lots of throws and cushions, twinkly lights etc etc and relaxing music. People interested in community births came and chatted with people who'd previously given birth in these settings. Plus they got to meet all the midwifery team. I think it was a success.

For me, however, it was an awful day. Terrible gall stone pain. Had to keep going on pain killers. 9 days to go!
