Fountain of Youth.....

My incredibly generous friend Aileen treated me to a day at the beautiful Carrick Spa (part of Cameron House Hotel) on Loch Lomondside, for my 50th birthday (Thursday, in case you're sending a card.)

We had a fantastic time, using the steam rooms, the thermal waters (the rooftop outdoor infinity pool was sheer heaven), the infra red room (like being zapped in a giant microwave oven), and the various jacuzzis, etc.

Finally, we had a 'luxury manicure' with heated stone therapy (they run a hot pebble up and down your arm - bizarre, but strangely relaxing) and massage.

As we sat in the chairs, totally soothed and stress free, having our nails painted immaculately, the beautician looked at me, and then at Aileen (who is 34) and said, 'So, it's a mother and daughter outing, is it?'

It's amazing how quickly all the tension can flood back into you.......
