Long Day In The Hospital
During Mass yesterday I became out of breath, dizzy and weak and almost lost consciousness. An ambulance was called and I was brought to the emergency room. After six hours of emergency care, it was determined that I should be admitted for observation, where I lie now.
I am receiving IV fluids because it has been determined that one of the reasons for my weakness was dehydration. But I am also hooked up to my own carry-in-my-pocket heart monitor, since I am in the cardiac unit. Today I also had a echocardiogram. That turned out okay.
The cardiologist thought that I could be suffering from Post-concussive Syndrome - from the concussion I suffered in my car accident three weeks ago. My regular doctor wants more tests since I was still dizzy when he finally got here.
So I'm going to spend the night again under observation, night 2. It's really lonely here.
