Amesbury Archer

This is my very good friend, the Amesbury Archer. Some 4,000 years ago, he chose to relocate from the Alps region to the South of England and, judging from the richness of the grave goods found with him, he must have settled here to become somebody of high importance. He now lives at Salisbury & South Wiltshire Museum and as I steward there regularly, I also get to look in on him. I know that there are issues surrounding the display of human remains - but he is in a very tasteful and discrete place in the museum, which is well worth a visit, by the way. I choose to think that he is at peace there, and happily dreaming of exciting hunting escapades on the Salisbury Plain.
