Snow pitching

Last night we had a another flurry of the white stuff that was still laying this morning. I thought I ought to blip it as I can't believe we'll get any more, at least not in the South.
I've never heard the phrase 'pitching' before and am told that it's a West Country expression. I always use the phrase 'settling', I wonder how many others there are.
