Krka Falls

We arrived in Split, Croatia where we had an excursion lined up in advance to visit Krka Falls National Park. Imagine our delight when we were met by a guide and car instead of the usual bus full of people. This turned out to be a private tour by a very friendly and knowledgable guide. The falls were about an hour and a half away. It was a gorgeous drive with time for many questions about this beautiful country. The falls themselves were unlike any I've ever experienced. There are a series of 17 waterfalls with a boardwalk around and in some cases over smaller falls. The water was swift and ran under the boardwalk. There were no guard rails and I had to wonder what would happen to someone who might trip and fall into the water! Many mills made use of the water in the past. Some are open as museums. This day was one of the highlights of my trip.
