Flodden

Lindisfarne, St Cuthbert the reluctant Bishop, Priory, Castle and St Mary's church all add up to a spectacular day in the sun. We then popped over to Flodden, site of a decisive battle of 1513 where 10,000 Scots and 4,000 English perished. The dead and injured were taken the few yards to Flodden church, a tiny chapel where this picture was taken, which served as a mortuary and burial site. The site is now a place of peace, forgiveness and reconciliation.
