Day One
Today was day one of my duties as a Clydesider, so I thought it appropriate to blip me in my uniform outside my venue.
I've had an amazing night, have an awesome mixed zone team, saw some commonwealth standard diving and met a few athletes. I confess I may have a teeny crush on Matthew Mitcham now - it must be the bum wiggle he did right in front of me as he was warming up! Sadly I couldn't capture that moment for you!
I was also exceptionally pleased that Team England won Gold in both diving events today - Jack Laugher in the Men's 1m springboard and Alicia Blagg and Rebecca Gallantree in the Women's 3m synchronised springboard. They were all so lovely in their press interviews too! I appear to have come over all patriotic - Go England!
In other news, I was up early for a podiatrist appointment for my ongoing feet saga. A friend of mine described running as breathing for me. He's right - I'm not right without it. But the podiatrist confirmed today that I won't be running any time in the foreseeable future.
Looking on the bright side though, at least I now know that I have biomechanical problems. I've got more exercises to do, am getting temporary inserts and am being referred to a specialist biomechanical unit. It may take a few months, but I will run again. I'm hopefully now tackling the root of the problem not just the symptoms. As another friend says, if I have the determination to run marathons, I can beat this!
