St Aidans Country Park
Hard to believe this was once an open cast coal site, but what worries us is why haven't the RSPB been leased the land yet, what is holding things up. They built their visitor centre and started planting tree's, had an opening ceremony only to be told they couldn't have the land yet as there was a slight glitch, that was September last year and they are still waiting. with all this talk of fracking it's a bit of a worry. It would be such a shame to ruin this lovely area which is now becoming a haven for the ducks and geese, kestrels and other birds are to be seen and the views and walks are great.
Lots of places to walk the dogs, just to sit and enjoy the views or to have a picnic.
