Air boat

I was so tired today that I went to sleep after lunch. When I woke there was an email from James Grenning asking me if I'd like to take an alligator ride on an air boat this evening. You bet!

The ride was courtesy of Lean Dog. John and Nadia laid on beer and snacks. The ride started at Boggy Creek at dusk and took in a spectacular sunset. There were dragonflies and bugs galore, alligators, herons, buzzards, frogs, cows and deer. Not to mention Cypress trees and punk shelled snails.

The warm air was gorgeous and the damp vegetative smell irreplaceable. In places the water was peaty brown, reminiscent of west coast bogs.

We had two boats. In this photo there are plenty of folk whose names I don't know. Front from left are Daniel Markham, Arlo Belshee, Ukrainian Nadia & unknown. Back centre is James Grenning.

The ride finished after dark and we bussed back to the Gaylord swimming pool where the water was warm and the rain poured down. If they hadn't thrown used out I'd probably still be there.
