Bronze medal
"Third place and winner of the Bronze Medal (in the Heptathlon), from England, Jessica Taylor".
These were the words of the stadium announcer this evening.
After a much needed lie in and a relaxing day in Glasgow I headed out to Hampden Park this evening for the athletics.
I was hoping to catch up with my very good friend Shelly Woods before she competes in the final of the T54 1500m wheelchair final tomorrow evening.
I shall be on shift so I'll be watching on TV.
Shelly wisely stayed at the village but it was good to catch up with her husband for a few minutes.
And so to the action.
A clean sweep of medals for Kenya in the women's 3000 steeplechase.
A games record for Australia in the women's javelin.
Greg Rutherford adding Commonwealth gold to his Olympic gold.
And Jess.
After 2 days of tough competition she set a lifetime best (unlike last night this information is accurate!) and richly deserves her medal.
Jess coaches my boss's daughter and a number of her other athletes were sitting close to me.
so I was lucky enough to not only get this blip of Jess taking good wishes but just prior I got a big hug from her too.
Another great day, not many left now.
