Stretching His Wings

The grebes at Nanpantan have managed to produce just one chick, after all the trouble and grief that they've been through this breeding season. It looks very new as well. It can only have hatched in the last few days.

I was trying out my super duper new lens this morning, the one that really lets you know when what you want is truly in focus. Enabled me to catch this shot of Dad stretching his wings as he has the job of carrying the new chick around. Mum does the fishing and feeds the chick.
