Keeping with tradition
Today would have been my old Dad's 86 Birthday. He passed away in 2003. I was hoping to go for an evening stroll up to May Hill and watch the sun go down but the weather wasn't on our side and unfortunately it rained. We used to go up there a lot when I was a child (there and The Malverns) so that Dad could fly his model aircrafts. He was an aeronautical engineer and he and Mum met at a gliding school - when us kids came along they could no longer afford to glide so Dad got his 'fix' from his the models he designed and made himself.
This is one of his many trophys from his flying comp days, Mum always used to give his trophys a polish on his birthday (probably the only time they got polished all year as cleaning wasn't her favourite passtime).... anyway I decided it would be nice to do the same.... Finn really likes this one (it looks a little like the Piston Cup, from Disney Cars) and he delighted in pulling very silly faces in it once it was shiny, that would have appealed to Dad's daft sense of humour :-)
