Yes - that is a bona fide Olympic Gold Medal.

Specifically the 1980 100 metre Gold Medal won by Alan Wells. That's his hand holding it.

Met the great man this evening at an event where he gave an awesome talk on the races he ran in the years around (and including) that 100m race in Moscow.
