Perfection

The perfect peel!!!
Don't let this picture fool you, I have not always been a good orange peeler. In fact my first "perfect peel" wasn't until college. I remember trying when I was a kid and it didn't go so well. In fact, my neighbor made fun of my pitiful peeling and I didn't eat another orange until high school. Even then, I just ripped chunks of rind away pretending not to care about making that sweet spiral of citrus. I finally got over my preoccupation with the pericarp during a roommate challenge my junior year of college. There were four of us and often we'd break into two groups and challenge each other to very random tasks. We had to have the best peel and we did.
Sometimes you just gotta go for it.
