Fireworks on the Rhine

Living by the river does have its perks! I was just a 5min walk away from an excellent viewing spot for some of Basel's National Swiss Day celebrations. I was standing at the edge of the Johanniterbrücke and the fireworks were being lit from a barge on the Rhine. The surrounding bridges and riverbank were packed with street parties and everyone was having a great time - and still are!

The actual holiday is tomorrow but Basel is the only city that have fireworks the night before. I certainly wasn't disappointed and it made my evening after a long day at work.
