Simple day; quiet morning around the house; nothing to do with beer / Raf interface last night; just that holidays can be damnably tiring and one wouldn't want to over exert one's self.
Leith for swimming aids then picked up the ladies for a group outing to Jupiter Artland; boys have been loads, I've been a couple of times but neither of our chums had been.
Poured on the way out but the gods (By Jupiter!) smiled on us.
Loved Jessica Harrison's porcelain pieces; that they are set in an overwhelmingly twee pink room leads you into a dismissive frame of mind and eventually what they are is a stunning moment. The kids too were thrilled and appalled in equal measures (normally a good benchmark for any aspiring artist, surely?)
Then a meander around to the Charles Jenks and predictable results ensued (children breaking all the rules).
After Tanis Kovats 'Oceans' exhibition at the Fruitmarket recently, I was surprised to stumble across her Rivers which was beautifully light by reflecting sun light off the pond below to give wonderful shadows; and the joy of finding baby swallows in the rafters of the boat house, being fed by an attendant parent was thrilling for the kids.
An uplifting day; but then I know it works for me.
