Trowels

These wooden trowels have been put to good use at our place over the last week. We are applying the "brown coat," a layer of sand, clay, chopped straw and water to the chip and slip walls. It is applied about an inch thick and creates a lovely smooth surface upon which to apply the finish plaster. By the time we are done, the walls will have been touched many times by many hands.
