Old fashioned fun
Today I went on a merry-go-round!
We visited Hollycombe Steam Museum with its collection of old steam driven fairground rides, steam road and farm vehicles and a retired Welsh mine engine. This engine towed us on a ride through the woods. Normous and George went on a ride that spun them round and tilted at the same time and then I went, on my own, on the merry-go-round! I don't ever remember going on one before. I couldn't climb up onto the horse properly so, like the lady I am, I rode side saddle! None of us ventured on the chairoplane but it was fun to watch. All the time the steam driven fairground organ music was playing. Normous and I were conscious that George was more used to the thrills of Thorpe Park and Alton Towers and found all this rather tame, but we two had a happy and very nostalgic day.
