The Edge of the Wold

Beedraggled

This was one of two bumblebees that were caught in this morning's rain, and sheltered under the pom-poms of the Echinops. Yesterday, there were several beenighted on the flowers, and this may have been one of them. They dried out eventually, and flew off back to their hive. They are remarkably resilient.

The new camera is wonderful in its clarity and detail, and particularly impressive in macro. There have been frustrations too. My version of Photoshop won't read the RAW files, and the Nikon NX software is not very intuitive. It's taken me ages to work out how to do a conversion to a JPEG, and then even on highest quality, the files are suspiciously small. Then there is a nasty little sensor spot that the sensor cleaner doesn't touch. I thought Nikon had cracked the oil spot problem of the D600 when they released this D610. Anyway, it's early days. I'm sure I will get everything working eventually.

It's Friday at last. Time for a beer and to watch the Lightning Bolt in action.

Worth beeing seen through the lens.
