Vinyl Revival

We were going to head to the mountains today for another weekend of skiing - unfortunately a Nor Wester put a stop to that.

Not all was lost though as it was a glorious day in Christchurch, 23oC no less(!), and we were able to pop into Penny Lane, or local record shop, for the obligatory browse. The past few times with have been in the new Jack White album, Lazaretto, has been sold out - today however there were three copies so we snapped one up.

Not only a wonderful musician, White is pushing the boundaries of vinyl with one of the sides playing from the centre out, a hologram embedded into side A of a rotating angel (see the picture), and hidden tracks set at different speeds accessed through the central paper. These were just some of the surprises but M and I loved exploring all the different possibilities.

One thing is for sure, vinyl is definitely not dead yet!
