Mountain Rescue Training

Our local Mountain Rescue Team only take on trainee members once a year - the idea is that the trainees will bond and form a self supporting team through the year long application and training process. Thus last year my application was a month after the intake - so when the invite came to commence almost twelve months later I'd almost forgotten I'd ever applied.
Mustering at the base at 18:30 we were soon given a brief and then we joined onto the back of one of the fully qualified teams as observers, recorders and helpers. Nothing was really that surprising - but the bond amongst the team was evident from the start - initially I thought the communication could be better - but it soon became apparent that each member knew their own role, more importantly knew the role of the guys (& gals) next to them - and each was supporting those around them to get the job done.
The evening passed quickly - I think it was a surprise to most when the light started to fade - back to base for a debrief, then pub for a get to know each other pint.
