Skiving off duty. Seen at a Civil War re-enactment at Ashby Castle, which was destroyed during the English Civil War in 1643.

It was a Royalist stronghold in the hands of the Hastings family, the land originally being given to William Hastings by Edward IV.

Not many people at this English Heritage event with the Wardour Garrison. Hope they do better tomorrow. There was a clear explanation of how to prepare a matchlock musket for firing and the use of bill hooks and pikes in defence.
