Clive's simple communication tool

Clive, one of the volunteers on Team 3, has been working as a research clinician into communication for disabled - and particularly stroke patients. He made this simple cardboard device which can provide a means of "talking" for people who have no use of their limbs or speech. It's done by eye movement and after 5 or 10 minutes of training anyone (even me!) can spell out words to the listener who has a reverse diagram on his side of the box.
The first eye movement identifies the square the letter you choose is in. the second eye movement describes its position within that square.
Simple, easy to make technology which works without ongoing maintenance. Perfect for Uganda!
