Visiting Mänttä Art Summer Festival
Today we took A's parents to their summer house in Vilppula. We had a nice cup of coffee there, left them to enjoy a lovely Saturday by the lake, and continued to Mänttä to see the traditional Mänttä Summer art exhibitions.
The art in Mänttä is always a nice mixture of mostly modern works of art, the nature around, and an old manor house mileu. Especially enjoyable was the art museum Gösta, which consists of Joenniemi manor and the new pavilion that was opened this year. Also art works at Pekilo were interesting. We had the privilege to attend a poetic walk around the exhibition led by the curator, Minna Joenniemi and Jukka Virtanen, a celebrity of some kind. The poems were chosen at random and read next to some works of art, which created either perfect harmony and new ideas, or a strange discord.
The restaurant in the new extension wing offered us a delicious culinary experience outside on the terrace: A had a small salad with roast bef and I had the most lovely plate of summer soup or 'kesäkeitto with some smoked bream mousse, yummy!
Here A is wondering about the reindeer skin purse and the chrystal beads that form Pekka Jylhä's work 'Pikavippi', or a quickie loan.
Got back to Tyven close to 10pm, just in time to see the sun set. Did not have to resort to a sunset blip today, though :)
