At the B of the Bang...
The final of the Mens 100m.
Commonwealth Games 2014,
Hampden Park, Glasgow.
Amy and I went to Glasgow today, we took an early train from Edinburgh and walked down to the SECC , where some of the Commonwealth games venues were situated. After looking around for a while, we went to watch the Gymnastics in the SSE Hydro. We cheered the athletes from Jersey, Wales and England during the three hour session.
Later, we walked back into central Glasgow, and just managed to make it to Mount Florida and Hampden park in time for the start of the athletics. It was an incredible atmosphere, again we cheered the athletes from both Wales and England.
Later we saw Libby Clegg win her 100m T12 race, to win a gold for Scotland. The whole stadium responded by going wild. Hearing 'Flower of Scotland' sang by a 40,000+ Hampden park was something very special.
The evening closed with both the men's and women's 100m finals.
The men's 100m final was won by Kemar Bailey-Cole in lane 5, with a time of 10.00 exactly. England's Adam Gemili [red shorts, white top] took silver with 10.10.
A really great day. So glad we made the effort to come to Scotland and see these games.
