CG2014: Day 11

This sums it all up really - it's the last day of the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow and I'm about to settle down to watch the Closing Ceremony and hear the Hampden Roar for the last time in CG2014.

It's been extraordinary in all kinds of ways. Here are my 11 highlights of 11 days - in no particular order (and I'm sure I've missed some!):

1. First off, seeing the vision, commitment, planning and hard work of my staff team coming to fruition at our installation at Glasgow Green - the concept just captured people's imaginations way beyond expectations.

2. The Clydesiders, Games Makers and Host City volunteers - endlessly cheerful and patient, whatever the situation.

3. Seeing young people we work with taking part in the Opening Ceremony - still can't put into words the pride felt.

4. The vibe - wherever you went in Glasgow, the atmosphere was just electric. A real sense of a world-class city.

5. The amazing Team Scotland and our record medal haul - what an inspiration they have been - including all the new young stars. And all the other athletes from across the Commonwealth - a fantastic multi-sports experience. So many new heroes - particularly with the integration of the para sports too.

6. Clyde. I love Clyde - gonna miss him when he's gone :)

7. The genuine interest and enthusiasm from people about the Legacy of the Games - a real belief that this could be a gamechanger in so many ways.

8. All of the fantastic young volunteers who came and helped out at the Young Scot Live Site - helping visitors to make over 19k seedballs and Legacy Wishes - an astonishing achievement!

9. The guys from SPT & First Group who organised and kept the queues moving for the shuttle buses outside Hampden - best banter in town.

10. The way social media - especially twitter - allowed interaction; information and chat to flow. Loved how my timelines have been so full of positivity.

11. Watching the whole thing and thinking of all the people I know and work with who have worked so hard for so long - years! - with such dedication and passion - so pleased for all of them that it really has been the best Games ever.

A huge truly heartfelt THANK YOU to all of them, to every single person who has made it happen - you helped create so many magic memories and a demonstration of what is possible - when - as Lynsey Sharpe told us - you get out strong & commit.

Time to celebrate - all back to ours! x
