The Wooden Sculpture, Calderglen...
Last day of the games today, and watching the poor cyclists pound the streets of Glasgow in torrential rain was a sorry sight.
Fortunately, the weather took a turn for the better and in the late afternoon I took my mother out for a coffee in the Clyde valley and we were able to sit outside in bright sunshine.
On the way home, took a detour past Calderglen Park and took this shot of the wooden sculpture. Unusually, there is no plaque explaining why it is there or what it represents. There is a date on it - 05.05.1933 - but I have no idea why that date is significant. If anyone knows the story behind this sculpture, I'd be very interested to hear it...
Watched the closing ceremony on TV tonight, and really enjoyed it. Wish I'd been there, but we did quite well on the ticket front and you can't go to everything...
I have really enjoyed the 2014 Games... Good Luck to the Gold coast for 2018!
