A Glimpse of Ugly

We are having some help replacing the trim around our windows and doors. Our house was built in the mid-70s and it shows. So we're getting rid of the 70s-style trim and replacing it with something a bit more classic. One of the interesting quirks in our house is that previous owners didn't remove wallpaper, they simply textured and painted right over it. So every now and then we get a glimpse of the past and it's uuuuugly. Funny how tastes change over the years. This was probably considered to be beautiful wallpaper when it went up. Now, not so great. You could almost hear the kids gagging when they saw it. :) While the adults working on the project reminisced about how we had paper like this in our homes while growing up. What will I think of today's design choices 15 or 20 years from now?
