The Common Room

This morning was an early start to see everyone off to work before we leave for London this afternoon. Luke was also up early to drive over to Manchester again for a haircut back home (Heaven forbid that he could use a local barber shop!)

I took dad food shopping as he was feeling much better today, but on the condition that he carried nothing and I pushed the trolley.
We caught the bus to Morrison's and did a full weekly shop and then got a taxi back home so we didn't have to carry all the bags.

Not long after we got in, Luke came home and we quickly packed up our things, said goodbye to dad and walked down to catch the bus to town.
We got off near West Street and walked to Division Street to The Common Room American style bar where we met Diane and Jon for lunch.

It was so good to see them both and they told us all about their adventures this week up in Glasgow for the commonwealth games. They went to see the squash and athletics and Diane showed me the programmes for each day and she gave us both a commemorative pin.

We ordered food and I had the mac and cheese (not as good as Kraft!) with sweet potato fries and an Oreo Shake that was so good, it even came in a milk bottle!

After we had eaten Jon drive us over to he train station and we were so thankful he did because no sooner had we all got into the car then it absolutely poured it down with heavy rain. They dropped us off and we went to catch our train back home.

When we eventually got back to the house armed with some small bites for tea, Ted was super happy to see us! He was very hungry and very excited, although he seems to have picked up a new habit of jumping up on the kitchen counter which we are trying very hard to discourage!

After tea of salami, mozzarella and tomato with basil we watched Hit Man through to the end (as it is always on but I have never seen the whole story), then planned our Saturday hoping to go to Notting Hill and Portobello Market.

Today I am grateful for Jenny P kindly agreeing to feed and look after Ted all week whilst we have been away, he seems perfectly happy even if he now jumps on the counter!
