And so the party is over, bar the shouting.
It has been a wonderful 12days for Glasgow. The spectators and the on the whole good weather did a great job in welcoming the Commonwealth nations to 'Come away on In' to their city.
It was unfortunate that the last 24 hours produced monsoon like rain which made the winning of medals that bit harder, none so than Geraint Thomas of Wales who pedalled his way through 100 miles of roads like lakes to win gold, all the more special since only 19 cyclists finished out of a a field of 149.
Last night's shindig was chaotic and colourful.
Lulu looking amazing in her Royal Stewart tartan trews and plaid, gave it laldy as she belted out her trademark song - W-e-e-e-ell - belying her 65 years, and if you like Kylie Minogue then she held centre stage for a long time.
Finally, a moving rendition of Caledonia, the lone piper up top and Auld Lang Syne.
As Prince Imran said in his closing speech"Glasgow..... You were pure dead brilliant".
In complete contrast, we are reminded today of the anniversary of the start of the First World War in which most of our families suffered the loss of forebears. It behoves us to remember the sacrifice these young men made for what was considered a war to end all wars. If only they knew........
But the show goes on, and now it's Edinburgh's time in the spotlight with the madness of the Fringe descending on its streets, although this dog outside the Sheriff Court looks as though he has more pressing matters on his mind.
