Magnolia

Went for a walk and ended up at Walmer Castle as it looked like rain (don't you just love an English Heritage membership?!!). Had a wander round the grounds, testing out the camera on the new phone as much as anything.

Quite pleased with it - will just need to get used to all the different functions!

This magnolia was just dying to be photographed. It's in the moat which, weirdly, I have never been down to before. I know earlier this year it was actually under water (which is what a moat is supposed to be, after all), but I've been popping in there for years now.

Also found a fig tree down there, but the artichokes seem to have gone to seed - shame they don't sell them, though they are supposed to all go to the kitchens at Walmer and Dover Castles but looks like the poor old artichokes have been overlooked.

Another quiet day in the office but have decided to take afternoons off for the rest of the month, and may even take a few days off!
