Philip
This beautiful poppy grew at the end of our drive this May. Although the poppy is the everlasting symbol of remembrance of soldiers who have died during wartime I often turn to the stars to remember those that I have loved and who are no longer here in body.
In the poem by Laurence Binyon, 'For the Fallen', we are very familiar with the fourth stanza. However, the last Stanza is very poignant is helping us to remember that their everlastingness exists outside memory. There is nothing more comforting than looking at the night sky and believing that those we have loved and lost are looking down on us, shining brightly.
'As the stars that shall be bright when we are dust
Moving in marches upon the heavenly plain,
As the stars that are starry in the time of our darkness,
To the end, to the end, they remain.'
