The end is nigh!

The closing ceremony of the Games. It's been a marvellous 12 days with a very positive attitude and after a very wet morning - especially for the road cycle race- the skies cleared and I can't say the sun came out, but it remained dry throughout the evening. Everyone had only good to say about Glasgow

The night ended fittingly with the singing of Auld Lang Syne a Scots poem written by Robert Burns in 1788 and set to the tune of a traditional folk song. It is well known in many countries, especially in the English-speaking world, its traditional use being to bid farewell to the old year at the stroke of midnight and by extension, it is also sung as a farewell or ending to other occasions.

Back to normal tomorrow.
