Beginning of a journey

It is an exciting day with the start of our holiday trip to Canada. Here a picture just a few moments before landing at Vancouver airport towards early evening. The bending of Fraser River, the river logs and the huge barges are some of the first impressions.

To be on that journey is more than just a holiday trip for us. It is also the opportunity to connect (in real or symbolic) with history, places, family and friends. The perfect and almost incredible beginning of the journey was, that B & P (a befriended couple) literally brought us from home to Vancouver. First picked up right at our doorstep and driven to the airport by the wife, while the husband arranged to be the captain on our flight. We were totally spoiled - thank you B & P for the goodies you organised for us and our friendship !

Then the trip is to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary, as a special event on our journey of life. In addition we plan to visit the family of my wife's cousin further north in Canada. And to finish Vancouver is a special place for me, as my father worked there in 1958 and collected memories for his whole life.

There will be a daily blip in the coming weeks, but probably not always much text. Too much to see and to do do around here !
