You can't hide money
Hildesheim was one of the great medieval cities in Northern Germany, but on March 22nd 1945 it was almost completely destroyed by allied bombing. A little of the former glory has been restored in the central district around the Rathaus. The Sparkasse (savings bank) has been rebuilt and this is it. It is fabulous and a tribute to the futility of war.
