National Cat Adoption Centre

Today we went cat shopping at the National Cat Centre at Chelwood Gate on Ashdown Forest. This is the HQ of the Cats Protection charity. The site includes a Nature Reserve, Visitor Centre, Gift Shop, Cafe, the Re-homing Centre and Administration. Opened in 2003 there is plenty to do here. We had lunch in the cafe before going into the moggies rehoming centre to see what there was.

Many of the moggies in the three wings that you can visit were older cats which we are not keen on. Eventually we were able to see two black and white younger females and one of these whose name was Scarlette, mum liked. Because I am away next week, it was deemed not a good idea to take on a new cat with just one person as she'll need to get used to me being around in her critical first week. It is not possible to reserve a cat for more than a week so we will have to check if this particular moggy is still available on Sunday. If she is, then we can pick her up on the following Sunday after I have come back all being well. So we might have a new cat!

Moggies Protection as I call them do a superb job in Re-homing, Educating and caring for cats. The staff here are wonderful and it is a most peaceful and enjoyable place to visit with striking modern buildings and a useful and reasonable cafe to have lunch. It's well worth a visit and a must for all cat lovers.
