Lady Hillingdon
When we bought the house this beautiful deep gold rose was buried in the middle of a huge laurel. With the laurel cut back we realised that the rose (which I think is Lady Hillingdon) is actually a climber, and every summer it puts on so much growth that it collapses under its own weight; so this year I gave it an obelisk to lean on. The act of threading it through the structure caused almost as much damage to the rose as to me - but it's extremely vigorous and is now putting on strong growth and a second flush of blooms.
