Delays And Failures
Arrgghh I'm late and will no doubt miss part of the big debate tonight humph oh well it could be worse I could be on our train in the shot that you can see stuck behind a failed East Coast service just in front of it just North of York I had earlier driven to Leeds in Gorgeous sunshine then I'm booked to travel in the rear cab to Newcastle then take over the driving so a 24 minute late start from Leeds ended up a 46 minute late arrival into Edinburgh now this really gets on my nerves when another train operating company (TOC) runs late then every other train runs late as Network Rail just go with the flow and to me they should try there best to get fast trains past slower trains you would think but they rarely do as it's not them that pay the fines to the other TOC's for late trains but when the delay is down to NR they will pull out all the stops and move heaven and earth to get the trains back to as near to time as possible maybe the £2oo a minute NR have to pay for delays compared to most TOC's paying around £140 a minute if they cause delays they cn recoup some of ther losses they only losers out of all this Big Money Merrygoround are the passengers and staff who want to get home as well but we know it's part and parcel of the job but this is the one side of privitisation I really hate is that passengers get the shitty end of the stick and it frustrates the shit out of me anyway I got home to see the last 90 minutes of the debate between Salmond and Darling I thought Salmond was being rather timid but not sure if his style guru had told him to be more appealing and less confrontational than the jumpy eyebrowed finger pointing Darling two main things came up that neither leader answered fully the plan 'B' currency which I wasn't expecting Salmond to answer as the Fiscal Comission stated it was the best of the options but for those that want to know the other options on page 110 part 3 of the Scotlands Future White Paper so I don't know why Darling had to ask the question just read the white paer and you could find it out in a minute or so like us mere mortals lol anyway the other options were Continued use of the pound (pegged, flexable), a Separate Scottish Currency or joining the Euro that's the options the FC stated but Darling was hoping Salmond would come out but Salmond's no daft he sticks to his plan A as most articles and soundbites I read now say that a currency union will happen the when Salmond cross examined Darling about Cameron saying Scotland could be a successful Independent country he ask him if he agreed and each time he ducked the answer so nobody that was undecided really got any new information.
Anyway that's it for today as the weather is to be crap tomorrow but gorgeous on thursday and may be planning my blip near penrith on thursday now then movie for the day is "The Great Debaters 2007"Ohh PS if you look at the line I'm travelling on the overhead wires look all squiggly as they go one way then the other you would think they have to be straight right ! Wrong they are designed to be squiggly to stop the carbon on the Pantographs from wearing out the same piece of carbon Simples ! See Ya
