National Oyster Day
Our friends were very keen to visit the Loch Fyne Oyster Bar, to taste the local delicacy and compare with the Singaporean version. A call to Blip friend Richard, and we discover it is National Oyster Day, and there is a special offer on.
They tried the shellfish from three different areas of Scotland, served on ice along with the lemon juice squeezed through muslin, Tabasco sauce and delicious home made bread. Kerrera Oysters were declared the winners. CJ did sample, but after my experience back in February, I declined, and enjoyed the bread.
When we left, we noticed an Oyster Shack in the car park, so off they went for more sampling. Thanks to Richard for making us very welcome, and explaining the farming process of oysters and mussels.
We also paid a visit to Inveraray Castle before heading over The Rest and Be Thankful. And thankful we were for good weather, great views and the road being open.
The final destination of our seven day road trip - Charles Rennie Mackintosh's Hill House at Helensburgh. Our friends were impressed, and thanks to helpful guides for lots of information. I can never tire of standing in front of the gesso panel "The Sleeping Princess", above the fire place in the Drawing Room.
A lovely evening together, discussing trip highlights, and looking at family photos.
Now, back to reality ....
